NJ Militia during Rev. War
« on: February 28, 2008, 02:16:13 PM »
How can I find out about an ancestor, Jacob Newkirk (24 Nov. 142 - 9 June 1818) if he was in the Militia of NJ?  He and all the Newkirk line lived in Bergen - Jersey City area - since 1656 and had a lot of farm land.

I would love to know how to get that information, or if someone is able to look that up for me!?

Thanks!

Out of curiousity (I'm not a relative), I did a quick search for Jacob Newkirk military records, and several Jacobs of different ranks popped up.  Some gravesites were also mentioned.  Too many for a non-Newkirk researcher to sort through.

Nevertheless, the information is there at Ancestry.com if you're interested to study it.
