Seeking memories of Hirt family of Bergen, 1920s-1940s
« on: January 11, 2008, 09:34:53 AM »
I am seeking people (or children/relatives of people) who might have memories they can share of the Frederick Hirt famiy.  Frederick was married to Adeline Meyer and they and their three sons, Leonard, Albert and Juian, moved to Bergen County from NYC at some point, I beieve, in the late 1920s.  I am most interested in stories of the youngest son, Julian, who was my father-in-law.  The Hirts lived on 7th Street in Ridgefield Park where Juiian graduated from Ridgefield Park HS in 1933, and was active in the Bergen County Players in the mid to late 30s.  The Hirts moved to Maple Street in Teaneck, I bleieve, in the early 40s, after Frederick's death.  Juian served in the US Army Signal Corps from 1943-1946, leaving a job with the Teneck Fire Department when he enlisted.  Adeline Hirt continued to live on Maple Street until her death in 1945; when Juian left the Army, he married Lillian Wyatt of North Carolina and they lived on Maple Street until moving to NC in 1947.  My husband (Julian's oldest son, born at Holy Name Hospital),  is a storyteller/actor who is writing a wonderful one man play about his growing up the child of a NY/NJ Jew and a Southern Baptist from the Appalachian Mountains.  He has many stories of his Mother's family, but longs for more information about his Father's famiy and his Father's growing up.  Would very much love speaking/communicating with anyone who might have any memory sparked by this information.  Thank you!
