Wednesday, January 26 at 7:30 pm Tom O’Brien, Mahwah Historian, presents Roads to Rails.
Tom presents a history of the railroad coming to our area, focusing on the links from Jersey City, NJ, through Paterson, and on to Suffern, NY. The story starts in Liverpool England in the early 1800's, explores the first railroads in the US, and then focuses on the coming of the railroad to Bergen and Passaic Counties. Tom will illustrate his talk with some great old images of paintings, maps, and photos. Local stops along the line include Ho-Ho-Kus, Mahwah, Waldwick, Ramsey, etc.—most of the same ones we have today.
At The Hermitage, 335 North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ 07423-1035
