Heritage Center at Ridgewood Public Library now OPEN
« on: November 07, 2010, 09:03:18 AM »
Ridgewood Public Library's new Heritage Center is now open for genealogy and local history study and research.  To introduce you to it's facilities and holdings there will be an OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, November 13 from 10 am to 2 pm.  Everyone is invited.

The Heritage Center houses the collections of the Genealogical Society of Bergen County and the Ridgewood Public Library--over 600 local history and genealogy books and periodicals--including, genealogical research guides, family histories, genealogical records, New York and New Jersey history, and church, vital, and cemetery records, as well as histories, for Bergen County and its towns.  There are two public access computers and a photocopier as well as generous study space.  In its Local History Archives, the Heritage Center has a large collection of photographs and ephemera related to Ridgewood.  Ancestry Library Edition, New England Ancestors, Newspaper Archives, George Washington Papers, and Historical New York Times are available from all library computers.  We also have NJ State Census for Bergen County and local newspapers on microfilm.

The Genealogical Society of Bergen County not only houses their collection here, but also helps provide the online databases, has their programs at the Library, and provides individual patron assistance throughout the year.
