Steenrapie posted a lovely article on Christmas under Saint Nicholas Day.

Vrolyk Kersdag! Each room with ivy leaves is dressed and every post with holly!
When day is brief and night's tide rises under a cold moon, a mist clouds the Hackensack River. At an oxbow in the stream, New Bridge spans the rush of tide and time. Through its iron trusses, watching winter dusk, we see street lamps and the streamers of head and tail lights ring the leafless horizon like an incandescent necklace around this fragment of the Jersey Dutch countryside....

I'm told this is the only working sandstone out-kitchen on the east coast. For your interest, two reenactors will be cooking in a walk-in fireplace on the 22 and 23rd of Dec.

I want to thank all our volunteers, Linda Russell & Companie, and our guests, who, despite the elements, made for a successful and enjoyable season. See you next year for the Silver Anniversary!
